Crime in

DataViz Project

Rotterdam

INTRODUCTION

The project DataViz: Crime in Rotterdam is my deliverable of the course SPD Media at TU Delft, which aims to visualize crime records in Rotterdam from 2012 to 2023. The data, sourced from Centraal Bureau voor de Statistiek, encompasses five types of crimes: violence, theft, harassment, fraud, and environmental crime.

Audiences can switch between different crime types using the toggle list above the map. By selecting multiple neighborhoods on the map, the frequency of specific crimes across different areas of the city can be compared. Furthermore, by selecting a certain neighborhood and clicking “See on Google Maps”, audiences can explore potential causes of the crime.
